Paulie, I remember thinking the same, even worse, when Clarence Thomas was put through that unfathomable grist mill with all of the Anita Hill baloney back in 1991. If that storm eventually passed, this one will, too, and the best thing about SCOTUS is that the justices won't have to deal with phonies like Joe Biden on a daily basis once they finally get confirmed. Like Thomas, the important thing is to get through, which I believe Alito will, though regrettably the process often borders on dehumanizing such quality people (ask C.T.)...
