The Left hates it when the facts get in the way of a good fable, but they are going to have to face the reality that after Taliban Era Afghanistan, Saddam's Iraq was high on the list of terrorist sponsor states. Saudi Arabia is still up there, but Iraq was the right strategic choice for a hot war. Saudi Arabia, I suspect, will be won over without a hot war. Iran is probably worse than SA and Iraq, but the pincer strategy (nascent democracies in Afghanistan to the east and Iraq to the west) and the hope for reform from within are probably the best hope for success there.
