Bruce on fire!
Great posts, Brucie!
I knew I was missing some big uniform changes, but teams such as the Chisox don't deserve a mention in the same breath as, say, the Penguins, as changing color schemes and unis has become a habit with the Pale Hose to a pathologic degree. Still, a very enjoyable post.
So far as officiating and the NFL goes, I am at least as cynical as you about whether the powers that be try to influence outcomes. Call me paranoid - doesn't mean I'm wrong.
'Twas indeed nice to see Moats get a shot. Westbrook is under contract, so I expect to see him back next year, with a lot of variation out of a Moats-Westbrook set, with BW splitting wide quite a bit. With an upgrade at receiver and McNabb healthy, the offense will be in good shape. The defense needs an overhaul - D-line and outside linebackers especially. They could use a Jerry Robinson-type athletic OLB and a Jevon Kearse (circa 1998) type end. Some of their injured guys should be back and may help, but they will probably have to sign or draft a real playmaker to get up to championship caliber.
The idiots who are all over Reid and McNabb should go back to picking up the trash and cleaning the subway cars. Reid needs to improve in certain areas (2-minute drill, faster play-calling, better drafting), but his success speaks for itself. And to trash McNabb? You'd think they would have learned something from having booed Mike Schmidt. I guess not.
