Bidwill's Cards, NFL priorities, etc...

As Dan mentioned in an email earlier today, the Cardinals continue to plumb new depths of ineptitude. Bill Bidwill's record of futility has to be unmatched by any owner in history. And while we're Card bashing, what on earth is Denny Green doing? Dan mentioned some God-awful playcalling in the final minutes when the Cards were driving for a potential winning score yesterday against the Skins, and I have been noticing the same inexplicable decisions all season. Were it not for a couple of wins over the pathetic 49ers (who will only get worse the remaining three weeks now that they are letting Alex Smith go it alone at QB after staying competitive for a few weeks with Ken Dorsey), the Cards would be neck and neck with the Texans in the Reggie Bush sweepstakes...

Thank goodness it looks lke the Cards won't get the first pick, because that would likely make Reggie Bush stay for his senior year at SC. I hope the Cards pass on Jay Cutler, whose confidence would be ruined by that rubbish team in the desert...

If Green isn't the most overrated coach in the NFL, then it must be egomaniacal Brian Billick. Why anybody thinks those two have a clue is beyond me...

Getting really SICK of some of this officiating this year, too. Not to trot out the old Eagle fan lament, but why does Dallas seem to get so many crucial breaks? Is it that important for the league to have DALLAS a winner? The defensive holding call on 4th down at the end of the game vs. Kansas City yesterday bailed out the Cowboys again. It was a dubious call at best, but I'm sure the ref was itchy-fingered to make the call that would benefit Dallas the most. I am surprised they let Ron Dayne's 55-yard run go without penalty in OT on Thanksgiving a few weeks ago. The Broncos must have been totally clean on that play, or the refs would have found reason to throw a flag, as they did against the Broncos against the Giants a few weeks earlier, when a crucial (and dubious) holding call pushed Denver out of game-clinching FG range in the 4th Q. Instead of 26-17, it stayed 23-17, and Eli led the last-second TD drive, which no doubt had the suits at the networks and NFL offices beaming...

It is obvious that the league wants a Manning vs. Manning Super Bowl. I would be wary if I were the Seahawks, who can look forward to no help from the refs if the Giants invade for the NFC title game. Peyton vs. Eli would be a huge ratings bonanza, especially since Eli represents New York's team...

Lastly, this Green Bay garbage makes me sick. The Chris Bermans of the world who continue to make such a big deal about the Packers are nauseating. I don't know if I've ever seen an NFL team get homered like the Lions were last night against the Pack. Of course, the Packers are "important" to the NFL image, but to overturn that safety call in the 4th quarter would have never happened if, say, it was a Houston vs. Tennessee game. It was pure B.S., and I am glad the Pack is stuck at 3-10, even though they should be sitting at 2-11 this morning...

About time "Dang It" Andy Reid gives Ryan Moats a shot at RB! Moats could have been running wild all season as he did with those 114 yards rushing and 2 TDs yesterday, instead of wallowing on the bench. He has the potential to become Barry Sanders Lite, the sort who can pop long runs and gain 1500-1700 rushing yards per season. I'm glad Reid has finally seen the light with Moats. Let's see what the Eagles do next year, with a healthy Westbrook (if he doesn't leave, that is). In combo with Moats, the Eagles might have a dynamic ground game next season, if Andy doesn't stick Moats on the bench again...
